Het European Equine Health & Nutrition Congress (EEHNC) is een 2-jaarlijks congres dat uitgegroeid is tot één van de toonaangevende internationale evenementen op het gebied van paardenvoeding & gezondheid. Het trekt onderzoekers, paardenprofessionals en clinici van over de hele wereld aan om innovatieve ideeën uit te wisselen over voeding en gezondheidsaspecten bij paarden. Deze 8e editie vindt plaats in Antwerpen op 23 en 24 maart 2017 en heeft als thema ‘From Nutrition to Disease and Back’.
Er wordt veel aandacht geschonken aan de relatie tussen voeding en diverse aandoeningen zoals obesitas, maagzweren bij paarden, ontwikkelingsziekten en gewrichtsproblemen. Onderwerpen zoals de voeding van paarden met onderconditie, de voeding van het oudere paard, afvalregimes, vitamine E, de voeding van ezels, en gewrichtssupplementen zijn praktische voedingsthema’s die aan bod zullen komen.
Het congres heeft uiteraard een hoog wetenschappelijk karakter waarbij de voertaal Engels is. Diverse internationale experts op het gebied van paardenvoeding en diergezondheid zullen aansluitend aan de sessies kort verslag doen in de vorm van een video-update. In deze video-updates (Engelstalig) geven zij paardenhouders ook diverse praktische tips. Ook zal er aan het einde van elke congresdag een panel discussie plaatsvinden (‘Round Table’), welke live te volgen zal zijn via een livestream.

Het 8e EEHNC wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met de Diergeneeskunde Faculteiten van de Universiteiten Gent, Utrecht en Luik. De Animal Science Group (Wageningen Universiteit) is ook betrokken bij dit congres. Cavalor maakt dit congres als hoofdsponsor en organisator mede mogelijk.

The European Equine Health and Nutrition Congress (EEHNC) is a biannual congress and has grown over the years as a leading international event uniting equine nutritional and veterinary specialists from around the world to share innovative ideas on equine health and nutrition. The Congress attracts a group of equine practitioners, researchers, nutritionists and equine professionals from more than 20 countries around the world. The 8th EEHNC will be organised on March 23-24, 2017, in the historic surroundings of the city centre of Antwerp (Belgium). The theme of the congress is ‘From Nutrition to Disease and Back’.
Special attention will be paid to the interaction between nutrition and conditions like obesity, equine gastric ulcer disease and developmental orthopaedic disease. Furthermore, topics like feeding thin and starved horses, feeding geriatric horses, weight loss programmes, vitamin E, donkey nutrition, and joint supplements will provide lessons for practical feeding. The congress has a scientific approach and Englisch will be the main language. Various international specialists on horse nutrition and health will consecutively share video-updates. In these video-updates they will give horse owners tips and tricks. At the end of the congress there will be a round table discussion, which can be followed live via live stream.

The 8th EEHNC is organised in cooperation with departments from the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University, Utrecht University and the University of Liege. The Animal Science Group (Wageningen University and Research Centre) is also involved. Cavalor is enabeling this congress as the main sponsor and organisor of this event.

The main theme of this 8th edition is ‘From Nutrition to Disease and Back’. The agenda consists of lectures by internationally acclaimed specialists in the areas of nutrition and veterinary science. The two-day program will contain 3 main sessions:
- ‘Nutrition as Cause’
- ‘Nutrition as (part) treatment or disease modifying tool’
- ‘Nutrition as tool for disease prevention’
